about

An ode to 90’s R&B, Amerigo Gazaway and Xiomara’s “1990” album is a nostalgic love letter to an era that redefined the genre. Known for his work reinterpreting classics, Gazaway (most recently tapped by the Miles Davis estate for his work on the lost Rubberband sessions), steps out of his role as a remixer and gives Bay Area artist, Xiomara, the bedrock for her voice to flourish.

With her breakout 2016 release “Seven Nineteen,” Xiomara’s soulful debut took home top rankings in SF Weekly’s “5 Best Bay Area Albums of 2016” list and led to guest spots on releases from Son Little, Blu, and Oh No to name a few. Leaning heavy on Xiomara’s songwriting and arrangement chops, the newly formed duo spent the last year crafting a collaboration as original as it is reminiscent.

lyrics

Lyrics:

Uh, for the fuckboys, c’mon c’mon
Hey Hey
Tryna bounce, sit down
Ooh ooh ooh ooh

[Verse 1]
Y’aint gotta say nothing
I already know you fuck with me
But what’s it all about
You seem to think my time is free you’re
Poppin everything with legs (true)
Youre tasteless and confused (true)
But I don’t really give a damn no
What ya got going on

[Chorus]
Tryna bounce, sit down
Tryna bounce, sit down homie
Tryna bounce sit down down
Tryna bounce sit down homie for me
Ya tryna bounce sit down
Tryna bounce sit down homie
I’m tryna break it down down
You’re lookin like ya got somewhere to be

[Bridge]
Oh baby
Now we’re taking it slow
We’ve been spending time
And I want you to know
I’m down to party
Long as you’re keepin it G
I got some things to say but you (but you)
You’re lookin like ya got somewhere to be

[Chorus]

[Verse 2]
You don’t wanna hear nothin
Mmm Got a nigga feeling like I’m talking to myself
Is that what you’re about?
(Hmm)
Well you should just bump somebody else
I already know your game (true)
And I got nothin left to lose but you
Nigga I don’t really give a damn what
what you got going on-uh
Nooo sistas sing

[Chorus]

[Vamp (Slowed)]
(For the fuckboys, C’mon C’mon)
Baby now we’re takin it slow
Baby now we’re takin it slow
Baby now we’re takin it slow
Baby now we’re takin it slow
(Repeat to fade out)
